The Language of the Heart: The Anointing - Part 2 - The Prophet

David Mitts

And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you remain in Him.” (1Jn 2:27, NASB)

The language of the heart is the speaking of the Holy Spirit in our heart that leads us into truth.

He speaks and reveals the things to come. This is the anointing in us that guides us in our purpose in life. His voice resonates with God’s will and as Yeshua spoke is our guide.

““But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” (Jhn 16:13, NASB)

The voice of truth teaches us and reveals to us the will of God which is called a renewing of the mind.

“Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Rom 12:1-2, NASB)

This living, active, and transforming voice is one of the three empowerments of the anointing of God in and through us, the prophet, the priest, and the king. King David operated in all three roles, and of course, so did the Son of David. This is why Yeshua was not only called Son of God, Son of Man, but also Son of David, to reveal the anointing being portrayed through His life.

“Now the crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David; BLESSED IS THE ONE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Hosanna in the highest!”” (Mat 21:9, NASB)

This session, I want to look into the first anointing role, the prophet. What is a prophet? Let’s look at the ancient Hebrew word. The word is “Nabi” נָבִיא

Looking at the 2 letter root, Nun and Bet, Nun is the word picture of seed, and Bet is the word picture of the house. Together they represent the seed that is inside the house or the heart, the dwelling place of the Spirit. Now we know from Yeshua’s own words that the seed that can bear fruit in the heart is the Holy Seed of the Word of God which is the language of the heart.

This is exemplified in the parable of the sower, which focuses on the nature of the conversation of the heart.

““The sower sows the word. “These are the ones who are beside the road where the word is sown; and when they hear, immediately Satan comes and takes away the word which has been sown in them. “And in a similar way these are the ones sown with seed on the rocky places, who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with joy; and yet they have no firm root in themselves, but are only temporary; then, when affliction or persecution occurs because of the word, immediately they fall away. “And others are the ones sown with seed among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word, but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of wealth, and the desires for other things enter and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. “And those are the ones sown with seed on the good soil; and they hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundred times as much.”” (Mark 4:14-20, NASB)

The “soil” is a reference to how we listen to the Voice of Truth. This is the key to everything in the realm of the language of the heart and especially the prophetic anointing.

Randi Lechner taught me many years ago with respect to the prophetic ministry to recognize that it is how we listen that impacts what we hear. There is a listening that is multiplicative, 30-60-100 fold. The alternatives are listening that is influenced by Satan, influenced gy the fear of persecution and influenced by the distractions of worries, the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for alternate outcomes, than the one that is God’s true plane for our lives.

What is a Satanic inspired listening? Well we know it is the opposite of a listening that is rooted. What does it mean to be rooted in how we listen and receive the seed, the speaking of God to our heart? Meditate on an oak tree. What makes its roots so strong so anchored? Well I think one aspect is certainly commitment. This is where covenant comes into our prophetic anointing. This is SO important. Covenant is rooted in love. Covenant is where we lay our lives down for one another. Faith is the listening that is rooted in trust, in oneness, in love, in covenant.

Paul tells us: “If I have the gift of prophecy and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” (1Co 13:2, NASB)

This is the Satanic kind of listening. It is unrooted, uncommitted, unloving. We have to be especially careful in this day of greta polarizations and hurts and offense. A tree requires good roots to produce fruit. Roots also provide under the surface strength for winds.

Wind represents the power of the multitude of voices blaring into our lives.

“As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;” (Eph 4:14, NASB)

Counterfeit speaking is like a hurricane that is blowing throughout the land. How do we resist it? By being rooted in relationship, covenant relationship. Relationship without covenant is relationship built on selfishness, what am I getting our of this? Covenant relationship is based on sacrifice, losing our own life for His life, discipleship.

““The one who has found his life will lose it, and the one who has lost his life on My account will find it.” (Mat 10:39, NASB)

What we find in covenant is the voice of truth. Rootedness provides the safety for transparency. We cannot be vulnerable if we live in the fear of rejection. Satan is the adversary and the fear of rejection is his stock and trade. It is relationally the fear of a kind of death, the loss of the approval of others who have no skin in the game. They are wandering vapors in the wind.

“Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, so that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. For clearly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendants of Abraham.” (Heb 2:14-16, NASB)

The descendants of Abraham are those natural and supernatural covenant children of the covenant.

It is interesting to me that most will go to a meeting and listen to prophet from out of town who has no commitment to the word given, since their is no rootedness in the relationship by design often shaping people’s very destinies in life, by words given BUT those who have given their lives to the relationship, day in and day out get little attention and trust. This is also how it was for Yeshua. Think about that for a moment……

“For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.” (John 4:44, NASB)

This is the very heart condition that keeps us from the Voice of Truth being received into our heart, no honor in covenant. Remember that honor is the same word as glory, “kavod”, which means to give weightiness to another.

Close you eyes for a moment and remember what it feels like to show the deepest respect to another. This is what Satan hates. His agenda is to make everything the same as everything else. In that place, nothing really matters and all specialness is gone. If he can tempt us to live this kind of life, then death becomes life. The prophetic anointing will vanish.

The second hindrance is the fear of persecution. This is also the fear of death and we have seen the increase in deaths of Christians around the world even here in our own country. The fear of death wants to silence the prophetic anointing.

The third and most prevalent agenda that “chokes” the word is the worries of life, the deceitfulness of riches, the desire for other things. These describe a greater focus of the heart with our relationship to what is in our life right now versus the eternal perspective of the kingdom. The word picture of choking is important. Choking is cutting off of the source of breath, of life.

The Lord is telling us that our desires, our worries, and the idea of riches solving our needs in life will cause us to be choked off from the true breath of life. He want to “inspire” us with His breath. Remember what He said when He breathed on His disciples….

“So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be to you; just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. “If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained.”” (Jhn 20:21-23, NASB)

The Voice of Truth will always be consistent with peace and forgiveness. In these divisive times we have the opportunity to be agents of peace and forgiveness.

This is what it means to abide in the vine in the flow of the prophetic anointing.

““You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. “Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit of itself but must remain in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.” (Jhn 15:3-4, NASB)

Remaining in Him is remaining in His peace and in His forgiveness especially when every fiber of our being screams for revenge and to strike back. There is no greater testimony to this Satanic voices of this our than our commitment o Him and our courage to allow the prophetic anointing to speak through our lives.

“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down, the one who accuses them before our God day and night. “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. “For this reason, rejoice, you heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you with great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time.”” (Rev 12:10-12, NASB)

Activation: Apply the blood of the Lamb to your life. This is the blood that was shed for reconciliation. It silences accusation. Give your testimony by walking as He walks, in love and with eyes of covenant sacrifice. Fear NOT persecution and the voices of rage and malice. Walk fearless with God.

Nancy L

Hi David and Lisa, I have done at least 5 Revelation studies and am currently in BSF for the year studying Revelation. I can honestly say I have never understood or made sense of the book of Revelation until lately. I have been going over your series of Revelation, along with the BSF workbook and class. I have never had a clearer understanding of the four horsemen., the 7 seals, and the 7 trumpets, which we are currently on in BSF, where they give thought-provoking questions, and then you have given me the answers. I really appreciate you for teaching all of this and Charles for taking the time to post and send it to me. It takes time to absorb it all, which I couldn't fully do with the Shabbat meetings(and I missed some), so having the whole series to keep going back to has been such a help in understanding Revelation. I have even shared with my BSF group what the four horsemen represent, which none of them knew. Thank you so much for your work and support. Love and blessings to all of you!
