“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know.” (1Jn 2:20, NASB)
Language is defined by Webster as: the words, their pronunciation, and the methods of combining them used and understood by a community. This implies that language is embedded into and an expression of community and the desires to share and connect within that community.
When we speak of the Holy Language of the heart, we are speaking of words, pronunciation and related methods that are native to the kingdom of God. It is no accident that the first manifestation of the community of faith in the book of acts was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Shavuot which resulted inn what we know as the gift of tongues but which in reality was a communication of the people of God unto the community reversing the confusion of language brought about at the Tower of Babel.
“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly a noise like a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, distributing themselves, and a tongue rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with different tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out.” (Act 2:1-4, NASB)
To me this demonstrates the connection between the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit and the language of the heart which was expressed in different tongues. Reading a little further we see the impact:
“Now there were Jews residing in Jerusalem, devout men from every nation under heaven. And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together and they were bewildered, because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language. They were amazed and astonished, saying, “Why, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?” (Act 2:5-7, NASB)
Clearly the outpouring of the Holy Spirit transcended earthly language and activated a heavenly language which ministered to the gathered peoples in a unification way. To get some more understanding we need to step back a bit and see what Yeshua said about this:
“Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” So, when they had come together, they began asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time that You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” But He said to them, “It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which the Father has set by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth.”” (Act 1:4-8, NASB)
Being a witness implies seeing and revealing a perspective on a reality that is being experienced. When we witness something, it is by our witness that the truth is established. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Shavuot, which is the festival of weeks, a week being the picture of the completion of time and Shavuot is the fullness of the fullness of time. At this powerful point, heaven released the power of the Holy Spirit to become witnesses of the Kingdom of God which expressed in the language of the heart which ministered to each listener in their own native tongue.
This reminds me of an experience I had many years ago after an Amway convention. We were gathered in an upper room in the hotel and Stephanie Fast ministered. Stephanie was an orphan who was discarded in Korea. She was raped and abused as little girl and called a “boogie” which means foreign devil because her father was an American who abandoned her at birth and her mother did when she was 4. Stephanie lived on the streets until she was finally found and placed in an orphanage where she eventually was adopted by a missionary couple. It took her many years to be healed of all of the sexual and emotional abuse. As she ministered, the Holy Spirit was poured out in our meeting and one of the leaders, a woman named Hana began declaring words that were unknown to us but a Hindu couple from a remote region in India recognized the words as a praise for Jesus in their tongue.
This is an example of the power of the language of the heart that is activated by the Holy Spirit.
Stephanie carried an anointing which activated heaven’s language.
That is what I want to talk about today. The anointing and the language of heaven. The biblical word for the anointing is “Christ”. Christ is not Jesus’ last name. Jesus is the Christ or the Messiah which is the Hebrew word for the anointing. Yeshua is the Messiah, the anointed one. Isaiah described Him:
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD anointed me To bring good news to the humble; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. Then they will rebuild the ancient ruins, They will raise up the former devastations; And they will repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations.” (Isa 61:1-4, NASB)
The anointing is the power that activates the grace and love of God. It declares good news to those who have the humility of soul to receive it. Humility, as we spoke of several session ago is the condition of heart that attracts the grace of God. He resists pride but releases grace to the humble.
The anointing also brings healing to the broken-hearted. This means that our heart-language can help repair the wounding of the soul of another.
“Like apples of gold in settings of silver, Is a word spoken at the proper time.” (Pro 25:11, NASB)
Our words can bring healing or they can bring damage. The key is the anointing for healing and pressing in for those words.
We are ambassadors of the King and His heart is always to bind up the broken hearted. This means that the language of the heart will always lead us to be agents of healing and restoration. The Apostle Paul tells us:
“Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” (2Co 5:20, NASB)
We can see from this that the anointing which is the power to function in a role as an ambassador is about reconciliation, first to God then to others. We are anointed for reconciliation and the language of the heart will always lead in that direction. So if we seek God in prayer, this will be His direction, not division which is the voice of the adversary.
What is someone hurts us? They break our heart. We are the broken hearted ones? Then we have to allow the same anointing that empowers us to minister to others minister to our own brokenness. This is the pattern of the cross. Taking up our own cross is allowing ourselves to die to the hurts from others as hard as that is to be agents of the healing from the King.
Look with me at context of this:
“saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised on the third day.” And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, this is the one who will save it. “For what good does it do a person if he gains the whole world, but loses or forfeits himself?” (Luk 9:22-25, NASB)
The taking up of our cross daily is the willingness to be healed of the pain of rejection and the fear of death of any kind. Most of us realize that we can’t avoid eventually dying. BUT we do try to avoid dying to our need to be approved. This is the true place of the cross in day to day life. When we get hurt, we tend to shut down to protect ourselves from more hurt. This can involve avoiding the person or persons who hurt us. I mean who wants more pain. Yet we cannot live in the anointing of God, hearing the language of the heart without going through the eye of the needle of the healing of the pain of hurt. It will feel like death because it means dying to the self we are trying to protect in order to follow Yeshua.
This is the power and the cost of the anointing. This is the actual message of the alabaster jar.
““She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial. “Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the entire world, what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her.”” (Mrk 14:8-9, NASB)
The death that she was anointing Yeshua for was the death to self as an expression of love for reconciliation. You cannot be anointed and operate in unforgiveness. This is why when Yeshua breathed the Holy Spirit into His disciples after the resurrection He spoke of forgiveness.
“So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be to you; just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them and *said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. “If you forgive the sins of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained.”” (Jhn 20:21-23, NASB)
Also implied in this is that it is a choice, a choice to forgive and be reconciled. This is the voice of the anointing speaking the language of the heart.
The anointing will also always be about freedom. To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD. This is a jubilee statement. God built financial forgiveness into biblical culture. Why is that? Because, I believe, money or mammon represents a type of power that can blind us to love. When people owe us and cannot repay, it can make us close our heart to them. This is why the Lord build the jubilee cycle into biblical calendar. Not only did the jubilee release all financial debts, it allowed the hearts of both the debtor and the one who was in debt to be set free.
We will speak over the next few sessions about different anointing for kingship, the priesthood, and the prophetic but for now, I want us to realize that the anointing in us is very powerful and will always align us to healing and forgiveness. It is our ultimate teacher in the experience we call life.
“And as for you, the anointing which you received from Him remains in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you remain in Him.” (1Jn 2:27, NASB)
Activation: Ask the Lord to show you the broken hearted who need your help. Don’t judge by the externals because they may have financial success or popularity. They may be ahead of you on the ladder of success maybe even in the very same field you are in but the truth is they need to be healed.
