The Language of The Heart, Kindness חֶסֶד

The Language of The Heart, Kindness חֶסֶד

David Mitts

Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?” (Rom 2:4)

Offering: Seed Soil Harvest - Luke 8:4

We have been speaking about the conversation of the heart and the qualities, which are called the “fruits” of the Spirit which express in the conversation. Every fruit comes from the corresponding seed.  We are not responsible for the fruit but we are responsible for the seed. This is called sowing, biblically.

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” (Gal 6:7-8)

How do we “sow” to the spirit? Are there laws of the Spirit? The answer is emphatically, YES!

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.” (Rom 8:2)

It appears from this verse that there is a law of the spirit of life, in Christ Jesus, that not only brings forth the fruit of the spirit but also has the power to set us free from the law of sin and death.

Think about that for a moment. There is a spiritual law. By law we mean the way things work in lawfulness or according to the principles and powers that drive the corresponding realm. The Biblical term is Torah! There are clearly 2 competing realms in the experience of a believer, the realm of the flesh, which operates according to the law of sin and death.

The second potential realm is the laws of the spirit.

How do we determine which is operating. By the seed that is sown. Seed is language, programming instruction sets. God’s word, His seed is always creative. Our words are protected from being eternal by the buffer God builds into our world. The primary reason we were separated from the Tree of Life was the protect us from the consequences of our words.

“Then the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever"— therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken.” (Gen 3:22-23)

Bear with me as we look a little deeper into what is happening here on a spiritual level. God’s fruit is creative because it contains the seed of its own nature as future fruit. When Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, they also became seed carriers.

The fruit of the tree contains the seed for more fruit. Prior to this they could only bring forth good. But now they can also bring forth what they know, good and evil.

This means that their language could produce either good or evil. All they needed for this to manifest eternally was to have a source of eternal life, which would have happened if they had been allowed to stay in the garden and eat of the Tree of Life. In this way their expulsion from the garden was kindness. Thankfully apart from eternal life, our words are limited by the law of Sin and Death.

 James said it this way:

“So also the tongue is a small part of the body, and yet it boasts of great things. See how great a forest is set aflame by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.” (Jas 3:5-6)

As bad as this sounds, it is still limited by the law of sin and death. In this way, we could call the law of sin and death, the law of cause and effect. It is the system of actions and outcomes.

Ultimately the law of sin and death produces death which is a limit on the evil we can produce.

Think about what it would mean if our words could create unlimited outcomes. They do in some ways but not with the creative power that would come if they were connected to eternal life!

By contrast, Yeshua when he operated in the earth, His words were spirit and life.

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.” (Jhn 6:63)

This means that His words were empowered by eternal life! They are of a different realm than our words, which are bound by the law of sin and death.

We do have another potential and that is the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. These are spirit empowered words that create a different reality the realm of goodness or kindness.

We are the masters of our choice, either words of the flesh which lead ultimately to the outcomes of this world or words of life, that lead to the kingdom of God.

Let’s get a flash into that other world that is our true destiny. Revelations 21:1-7

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And He *said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. "He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.” (Rev 21:1-7)

Every time we choose to speak spiritual words, we proclaim this kingdom. As Believers, we are not only proclaiming but when we connect to the Spirit, we are coming into alignment with the manifestation of God’s Kingdom.

The “fruit” of the Spirit is the manifest language of the Holy Spirit. Kindness or Goodness I one of the fruits. The fruit contains the seed for more fruit. When we eat the fruit, partake of God’s goodness His kindness by bringing it into our heart through our choices, we bring forth the reality of the Kingdom.

Kindness, goodness Is the Hebrew word “chesed”.

•           ח (Chet - ח): Represents a fence, protection, or boundary, signifying God's protective nature.

•           ס (Samech - ס): Depicts a thorn bush or support, symbolizing assistance or shielding.

•           ד (Dalet - ד): A door or tent flap, representing entry, refuge, or movement (back and forth).

•           Combined: A "door of mercy and protection," a place of refuge opened by steadfast love (Chet-Samech-Dalet).

If we think of God’s kingdom as a parallel universe with separation being the veil of death, then we accessing we shift our spirit from the death based system to the eternal life of God’s Kingdom.

The doorway is chesed. Another word for chesed is mercy. Kindness, mercy, goodness are all aspects of the kingdom. Yeshua tells us:

“Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.” (Mat 5:7, NKJV)

Mercy, being kind, revealing the goodness of God brings forth the fruit of more mercy, more kindness more goodness. We literally step out of this present darkness into the kingdom of light when we show mercy, are kind.

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),” (Eph 5:8-9, NKJV)

This is a literal transference, a dimensional shift.

“For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,” (Col 1:13, NASB)

We are often not fully awake to what we are experiencing but regardless this is what’s happening. Because we are born again, this transference is automatic as we sow mercy or kindness. We often feel the remnants in persisting sense of rightness in our feelings about our life. These feelings are echoes of the kingdom.

Paul tells us that the power four salvation comes from this dimensional pull.

“Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and restraint and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?” (Rom 2:4, NASB)

God shows His mercy through the cross. He gave us the solution to the law of sin and death reality by the death and resurrection of Yeshua. This is His mercy, His kindness, His goodness. He demonstrated the love that is His state of Being. When we respond to the pull and receive His gift, we are translated out of sin and death into eternal life.

Now we access through our words our seed into eternal realities. His grace gives us power. Thankfully He still protects us with death from our undisciplined tongues. But with the same tongue, He gives us the gift of tongues and the gift of speaking spiritual words.

“We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. But a natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. But the one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is discerned by no one. For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.” (1Co 2:13-16, NASB)

Activation: Sowing kindness. Pray about who in your life that you can show kindness to bring them the experience of the kingdom reality. The secret is in your words.

Hi David and Lisa, I have done at least 5 Revelation studies and am currently in BSF for the year studying Revelation. I can honestly say I have never understood or made sense of the book of Revelation until lately. I have been going over your series of Revelation, along with the BSF workbook and class. I have never had a clearer understanding of the four horsemen., the 7 seals, and the 7 trumpets, which we are currently on in BSF, where they give thought-provoking questions, and then you have given me the answers. I really appreciate you for teaching all of this and Charles for taking the time to post and send it to me. It takes time to absorb it all, which I couldn't fully do with the Shabbat meetings(and I missed some), so having the whole series to keep going back to has been such a help in understanding Revelation. I have even shared with my BSF group what the four horsemen represent, which none of them knew. Thank you so much for your work and support. Love and blessings to all of you!
