Shabbat Passover 2025

David Mitts

“But the righteous will be joyful; they will rejoice before God; Yes, they will rejoice with gladness. Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Exalt Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the LORD, and be jubilant before Him. A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy dwelling. God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious live in parched lands.” (Psa 68:3-6, NASB)

Giving Opportunity Message

A Costly Gift for Passover - Matthew 26:6-13,17

As Spring blooms, new growth sprouts everywhere in nature, we can see from the buds and new growth that God has made renewal with a vision for a fullness of life a key part of His intervention for man. Whatever winter represents in our lives, a time of darkness and quiet, spring is the picture of resurrection of all life. This is an expression of our God’s heart of hope and renewal. God is a just God and the Father of the fatherless.

Psalm 68:3-6 states:

“But the righteous will be joyful; they will rejoice before God; Yes, they will rejoice with gladness. Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Exalt Him who rides through the deserts, Whose name is the LORD, and be jubilant before Him. A father of the fatherless and a judge for the widows, Is God in His holy dwelling. God makes a home for the lonely; He leads out the prisoners into prosperity, Only the rebellious live in parched lands.” (Psa 68:3-6, NASB)

I think the most endearing quality of our God is His love and advocacy for those who have been enslaved through the evil inherent in the heart of man!

It is easy to forget that all of our injustices will one day be made right. Isaiah 26:5

“He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the disgrace of His people from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken.” (Isa 25:8, NASB)

This is so important to remember, that all suffering with be reversed. Whatever circumstance we find ourselves in, even death from some disease or oppression God’s nature is to rescue us. That is why we have to be step up and be rescuers because it reveals God in us. This is the heart behind Destiny House, restoration.

As Spring brings new life out of the dormancy of winter, the Lord used this time to reveal His heart of deliverance and gave us the Spring Feasts and the Cross at Passover and the Resurrection to remind us to keep our focus on heavenly places. For today’s BEST broadcast, I want to look at heart of the Lord revealed in nature, revealed in Passover, revealed in the death and resurrection of Yeshua, our Passover Lamb.

First and foremost, none of this is about religion. In fact it is the exact opposite of the spirit of religion and the letter of the Law. Look with me at Matthew 12:1-8:

At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples became hungry and began to pick the heads of grain and eat. But when the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him, "Look, Your disciples do what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath." But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions, how he entered the house of God, and they ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests alone? "Or have you not read in the Law, that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and are innocent? "But I say to you that something greater than the temple is here. "But if you had known what this means, 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT A SACRIFICE,' you would not have condemned the innocent. "For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." (Mat 12:1-8)

God desires compassion, not a sacrifice. We spoke the lsat 2 sessions about compassion. In Hebrew, compassion is racham, which as your remember shares the same root as rechem, the womb. The womb is the place of new life. It is place of perpetual spring, the possibility inherent in each new life. The womb speaks of fertility and destiny. Each child being born brings a new dimension of God’s hope that could be the next person who brings deliverance.

I remember once watching this creepy movie called the 7th Sign. I don’t pretend that it is biblical but in the movie no more children can be born representing the end of days. I don’t see this in the Bible but I think the message is important as we think about God and the Feasts of the Lord, especially the spring Feasts which are about the compassion of the Lord.

Why compassion and not a sacrifice? This from one who would offer Himself as our eternal Passover sacrifice. Turn with me to Hebrews 10:5-10

“Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says, “YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED SACRIFICE AND OFFERING, BUT YOU HAVE PREPARED A BODY FOR ME; YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN PLEASURE IN WHOLE BURNT OFFERINGS AND OFFERINGS FOR SIN. “THEN I SAID, ‘BEHOLD, I HAVE COME (IT IS WRITTEN OF ME IN THE SCROLL OF THE BOOK) TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD.’” After saying above, “SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS AND WHOLE BURNT OFFERINGS AND OFFERINGS FOR SIN YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED, NOR HAVE YOU TAKEN PLEASURE IN THEM” (which are offered according to the Law), then He said, “BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second. By this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.” (Heb 10:5-10, NASB)

The sacrifice of Yeshua was NOT a religious act but an act of compassion. Compassion is the picture of the womb, rechem. This means that Passover is a celebration of God’s compassion and compassion is for the purpose of new birth. New birth is for the purpose of destiny and of justice and mercy.

“And the LORD said, “I have certainly seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their outcry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. “So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. “And now, behold, the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; furthermore, I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them. “And now come, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.”” (Exo 3:7-10, NASB)

Notice His compassion wasn’t just the recognition of the oppression but also the promise of their destiny in the Land of milk and honey.

God doesn’t just bring us out of oppression but also brings us into a destiny with a purpose.

This is the message of His compassion.

Even in the death of Yeshua, it wasn’t just about His sacrifice but also about the release of destiny for those who experienced the new birth, a new springtime.

Yeshua taught:

“But Jesus *answered them by saying, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. “Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. “The one who loves his life loses it, and the one who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life. “If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.” (Jhn 12:23-26, NASB)

Yeshua’s glorification was to be the Passover Lamb. His blood sets us free from the bondage to the system of this world. Ultimately His death, His sacrifice is a womb. In that womb, anyone who receives the seed of His death is born again into a new life which bears fruit. The fruit that we bear is not just goodness in this life but also leading others to the compassion of the Lord who loves them and made a way for a new race of love and life.

“Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, through His flesh,” (Heb 10:19-20, NASB)

This is the heart of Passover and the reason why the Feast is in the spring. When we look at the symbolism of the Feast, we can see the full picture.

Egypt and Pharaoh represent the world system of oppression and inequality. It is the system behind sex trafficking and labor trafficking. Clearly, Israel was a clear example of slavery in every sense of the word. In addition, Pharaoh was an abortionist.

“Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah, and the other was named Puah; and he said, “When you are helping the Hebrew women to give birth and see them upon the birthstool, if it is a son, then you shall put him to death; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.” (Exo 1:15-16, NASB)

Similarly, at the time of Yeshua, we see another death decree from Herod:

“Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent men and killed all the boys who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity who were two years old or under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi. Then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “A VOICE WAS HEARD IN RAMAH, WEEPING AND GREAT MOURNING, RACHEL WEEPING FOR HER CHILDREN; AND SHE REFUSED TO BE COMFORTED, BECAUSE THEY WERE NO MORE.”” (Mat 2:16-18, NASB)

Today, we see another wave of abortions around the world, which I take as a sign that God is about to return and give us a new era of peace on Earth.

You see, the womb is the picture of Passover, the compassion of the Lord, the place of new birth, new life, and new destiny.

So this year, as we examine our hearts for new life, let’s honor what the Apostle Paul taught:

“Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough? Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed. Therefore let’s celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” (1Co 5:6-8, NASB)

Activation: For new growth to happen, the soil needs nutrients and rain. The nutrients are the minerals, the metals which add life to the soil. Life is all about the right mixture of ingredients. Ask the Lord to reveal to you what you may need to add to your life this year or what you might need to let go of. This is a season for new growth, new life and much fruitfulness. Also the new new growth needs much water of the Holy Spirit, Press in!

Hi David and Lisa, I have done at least 5 Revelation studies and am currently in BSF for the year studying Revelation. I can honestly say I have never understood or made sense of the book of Revelation until lately. I have been going over your series of Revelation, along with the BSF workbook and class. I have never had a clearer understanding of the four horsemen., the 7 seals, and the 7 trumpets, which we are currently on in BSF, where they give thought-provoking questions, and then you have given me the answers. I really appreciate you for teaching all of this and Charles for taking the time to post and send it to me. It takes time to absorb it all, which I couldn't fully do with the Shabbat meetings(and I missed some), so having the whole series to keep going back to has been such a help in understanding Revelation. I have even shared with my BSF group what the four horsemen represent, which none of them knew. Thank you so much for your work and support. Love and blessings to all of you!
